Supporting Broadcasting to Ukraine and Conflict Zones
Summary: This project aims to support and expand international radio broadcasting coverage to Ukraine and conflict zones worldwide, utilizing AM (Medium Wave) and Shortwave radio frequencies.
We use powerful transmitters on Ukraine's doorstep in Europe, so our signal is always at its best when we broadcast to Ukraine.
The goal is to provide fair, balanced, and independent news coverage to inform, educate, and inspire listeners affected by the war and occupation in Ukraine.
By leveraging the advantages of AM (Medium Wave) and Shortwave radio broadcasting from nearby countries, this project overcomes disruptions in local AM and FM radio, TV, Internet and mobile phones caused by the conflict, ensuring that critical information reaches throughout Ukraine and nearby conflict zones in Russia and Crimea, as far as Moscow and the whole of Europe.
This is an ongoing project that started in March 2022. We are now seeking additional funds to continue and expand these services.
Project Objectives:
1. Expand Broadcast Reach: Extend coverage hours and signal strength to inform more people in conflict-affected areas in Ukraine with objective news.
2. Provide Unbiased News: Counter limited and censored news by being a beacon of independent reporting and inspiration amidst conflict.
3. Leverage World Radio: Use AM/Medium Wave and Shortwave radio for broad, uninterrupted communication during disruptions.
4. Boost International Broadcasting: Fund NEXUS-IBA services to widen program availability and access to independent journalism globally.
5. Aid Displaced Communities: Offer airtime to those with vital messages, supporting displaced populations and amplifying silenced voices.
6. Champion Free Speech: Promote democracy, free press, and religious freedom through unbiased international media.
7. Emergency Response: Collaborate for emergency broadcasts, activating International Radio for Disaster Relief (IRDR) for on-demand assistance.
8. Bypass Censorship: Use Shortwave radio to evade media restrictions, connecting isolated populations with vital information.
By streamlining the objectives, potential donors can quickly grasp the essence and impact of your campaign.
Budget Allocation:
The project requires financial support to cover the following expenses:
1. Airtime of transmitters
2. Electricity costs
3. Software and hardware maintenance and upgrades
4. Transmitter power enhancement
5. Expansion of broadcast coverage
6. Development of streaming services and online platforms
7. Production of news programs and inspirational content
8. Outreach and awareness campaigns
Conclusion:
By supporting this project, donors contribute to the delivery and availability of fair, balanced, and independent news coverage in Ukraine and conflict zones worldwide. The utilization of Shortwave radio and the expansion of broadcasting services enable the provision of vital information, connection, and inspiration to those affected by war and occupation.
